Healy+Alexey: married!

Whenever I meet with prospective wedding clients I always encourage the thought that the energy between a couple and their wedding photographer has to be really good. As the photographer, I’m going to be around you A LOT on your wedding day and the last thing I want is for you to be tired of seeing me. That being said, I totally lucked out with Healy and Alexey. Although I broke one of my rules and didn’t meet them in person until the day of their fabulous Easton, MD, wedding, their good vibes and fun-loving energy came right through the phone and won me over. I was thrilled to discover that they were exactly as they sounded, lovely, in love and a blast. The day flowed easily and I don’t know what was better, the fields of yellow flowers and horses, the fact that Healy’s dad drove her down a tree-lined path in a classic MG to meet her groom, the garden reception with bistro lighting and a view of the sun setting on the water or the Greek food and dancing from Alexey’s father. The whole wedding was a relaxed affair at Healy’s family home with so many sweet details…did I mention Tito the dog walking down the aisle or the photo booth Alexey set up in the garage?  Following are my favorite images from the day. I wish all the best to Healy and Alexey and thank them for finding me and bringing me into the fold to document their big day. Enjoy!

Lauren+Greg: married!

I am so excited to share Lauren and Greg Valentine’s May wedding, so much so that I included over 100 images in this post just to share all the fantastic details from the day! This gorgeous couple tied the knot in a vintage wedding at the Valentine Richmond History Center (Valentine!) in Richmond, Va. I was honored to work with LK Events & Design whose vision is always impeccably elegant and who gives me loads of beautiful details to play with. I loved everything from Lauren’s mermaid-style dress, beautiful veil (made on the spot by maid of honor and fashion blogger London Ray), both Lauren and Greg’s chill attitude even through a downpour (which thankfully waited until the moment we finished shooting the portraits to come), the fact that the couple’s great friend Simon officiated and I could go on and on. Oh, and did I mention the surprises? For starters Simon, the officiant, surprised his friends by singing their song “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” about halfway through the ceremony. After the first verse, Simon’s voice was replaced by the voice of a female singer who literally made her way up the aisle and serenaded Lauren and Greg while everyone grooved in their seats!  The next surprise came after the toasts with LK’s (from LK Events & Design) gift to the bride and groom (also her good friends). Let me back up for a second to tell you that Lauren and Greg met at VCU, where Lauren was a member of the VCU dance team. Everyone who knows VCU, knows the school’s mascot Rodney the Ram. Well…the second big surprise for the happy couple and their VCU-loving guests was Rodney the Ram gracing them with his presence to dance to the fight song and compete for the garter. Add to this a dancing crowd, a bride in rain boots and a great second shooter in Crystal Randazzo and I was one happy photo lady. Much love to Lauren and Greg who inspire me with their love. Following are many images from the day. Enjoy!
